overdue reflection intern CHINA

If there is light in the soul,
There will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
There will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
There will be order in the nation,
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world.
Chinese proverb.

well, obviously if i were to write about my whole experience during my internship to CHINA, i

could have a publisher or a book launch by now.

you can never get a parkin ticket , you can u-turn anywhere, the weather is terrying hot, the beer is cold, the food is faboulous. if sexy is defined a sthat strange comination of awkardeness , an old and emerging new pradigm, then China is sexy.

the rural poor communte to the city during the day, walking around with basket balance on their shoulders. dry thick skin cracked just like the streets of the city. CHINA is a snake shedding its skin, regrowing the old patters, changings its shape and slither. its descendents came from the mating of an angel and a dragon you know. Some poeple travel to let go of understanding whats happening around them, to be as nude and deluded as childeren . it is easy to watch them walk iwth an air of stupidty about them , smiling at everything.

my internship took place in a place called JIUZHAIGOU(9TRIBALValley), in Sichuan province. The interns were to meet at Zhejiang University Hangzhou, where the office is located. In Hangzhou, our main purpose was to complete the preparation for our project, and after 7 days we took the next train to Chengdu. It was 30 hours without feeling gravity on cemented grounds. If i were to be honest, the train ride would be quite a thrilling and eye opening experience. the very first reason was , as foreigners mainland local people tend to find us quite fascinating and interesting. We felt outcasted, with the majority of stares we got by the locals. It wasnt your ordinary stare, it was a killing awakard tense, long stare. However, we got used to it at the end of the day and took it as a joke.

upon arriving in Chengdu, immediately we had to hop on to a 9 hour bus ride to Sichuan, where our destination was. the whole journey through we were surrounded by heavy geography of mountainous landscapes. as we head deeper and higer to the altitudes, the more rural and unurbanized the place looked.

Once we arrived at the school, i realised that Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there…..to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be but if you open your heart to them you will know that every moment they will affect your life in some profound way. I want to say that I have come here to movtivate and share knowledge to the children but honestly speaking I have learnt a lot from them! All children in JiuZhaiGou spread love everywhere they go. Every time you can see kindness in their faces, in their eyes, in their smiles and in their warm greeting.

* a video of our whole internship!

And as Buddha said: “Thousand of candles can be lightened from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared”. People in JiuZhaiGou know it and they do it every day and we feel it since we have arrived here. People in big cities are very busy earning, wasting money. And they ignore people around them that make me feel lonely but I don’t have that feeling when I’m here. I’m very happy to be in JiuZhaiGou with beautiful scenery and nice people. There is always pollution in big cities but in this mountainous areas the air is very fresh and the people is caring about the environment and I really appreciate with that. I’ like to express my gratitude to all of the teachers and board of the school. Thanks to them I’m able to get closer to the students. The students in this school are helpful to us. They help us whenever we need and I can feel their friendliness in whatever they do!
After JiuZhaiGou, a few of the interns spent 2 days in Chengdu and headed to Shanghai for about a week. in CHengdu we got to visit the famous Jing Street which was directly in front of our hotel room!and wohhoo the hotel room was just nice:). Nevertheless, i got the chance to visit the overcommercialised 2010 SHANGHAI EXPO, and oh boy! it was such a hectic and exhausting day!ONE THING, the EXPO would be all about queuing! However, we managed to visit main pavilions like Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal and Germany all in one day!( we kinda cheated, one big hint: if you're a citizen of the country, bring your passport along and you will be able to avoid the q!:) And by night, THE CITY comes livelier, you will never believe how many foreigners Shanghai holds! Its amazing, i met interns from America, Switzerland and etc, and oh boy do they know how to live life! The apartment we rented was just in an amazing location! It was close to subways and a huge shopping mall right infront! THe mall consisted of shops like h&m , uniqlo, and many other awesome shopping experience, CLOUD 9 was the name of the mall. pfft. Shanghai was by far the best experience ever, 4clubs in one night. one of my favourite, GPLUS, is just splendid , their atmosphere was as if it was new years eve again!
alright i better stop before i ramble and bore you with my experience, well do email me if you have any questions! Nevertheless, my whole intern was just life changing! Once again, thanks Curtin, Zhejiang University Hangzhou and people of JiuZhaiGou.
